Department of
ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

About the Department

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in 1985 with an initial intake of 40 students, which was later increased to 180. The M.Tech program in Communication Engineering & Signal Processing started in 2010 with an intake of 18. Currently, the department offers a 4-year B.Tech program in ECE and a 2-year M.Tech program in VLSI. It is staffed with highly qualified and experienced faculty members.

The department is committed to keeping up with technological advancements in Electronics & Communication through updated curricula, including both core and software-based subjects. It also features modern teaching tools like LCDs and OHPs. Faculty members regularly attend workshops and conferences to stay updated with industry developments. The department has been accredited six times by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) since 1998.

Students actively participate in national-level paper competitions and have received awards. The department has ISTE and IETE chapters that offer memberships in technical societies. Graduates have achieved success in exams like GATE, GRE, TOEFL, and CAT, and are employed at top companies such as TCS, IBM, Oracle, Qualcomm, ISRO, and DRDO.

HoD's Message

I Inviting you to the most Electrifying department producing engineers with the power of knowledge and experience, established in 1984 and is one of the leading and oldest departments in the field.

When Alexandar Grahambell invented the Telephone and Marconi developed the radio in 19th century no one dreamt that these two distinct technologies together would create another wonderful product that is cell phone which is now part of everybody's life.

ECE covers a wide range of applications which makes our life easier and enjoyable such as Computer and Television, Radio, Telecommunication etc. ECE helps us to see hear and communicate over vast distances and do things faster and has a major role in improving productivity in industries.

ECE is one of the largest and fastest growing fields of engineering. ECE has a vital position in this technology revolution. Electronics & Communication Engineering gives enormous job opportunities in Electronics and Software Companies, Electronics Industry being a labor intensive industry provides many job opportunities for the skilled job seekers.

Head of Department, ECE

ECE Education as always been dynamic and incoherent with the current development as well as innovations in creating new technologies. It is no exaggeration to say, There is no person in the world who is not using Electronic Product in one or the other way.

The department runs UG and PG Programmes namely B.Tech in ECE and M.Tech in VLSI. The department has a team of faculty members whose interest span almost all areas of Electronics & Communication. Department has over 10 well equiped Labs with advanced equipment and facilities for supporting our teaching and research.

Vision:

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering endeavours to develop high quality, technically competent and socially responsible engineers.

Mission:

To bring out competent Electronics and Communication Engineers and to achieve excellence in imparting technical social skills & attitude for   continuous learning.

To provide good learning environment for young engineers towards research and Industrial needs.

To mould the students capable of providing leadership for betterment of the society and country.

PEO1 To acquire knowledge in applied and basic engineering sciences for understanding engineering principles which are necessary to formulate and solve problems related to Electronics and Communication Engineering.
PEO2 To develop knowledge in experimentation and analysis of Electronics and Communication Engineering problems, to design and develop novel products / solutions for real life problems.
PEO3 To develop teamwork, effective communication skills, professional and ethical attitude and life-long learning needed for successful professional career.

At the end of the programme, a student will be able to :

PSO1 Proficiency in specialized hardware and software's, Artificial Intelligence tools and computer programming, useful for the analysis and design of electronics and communication systems.
PSO2 Formulate real life problems and develop solutions in the area of semiconductor technology, signal processing and communication systems.

PO1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2 Problem analysis: Identify formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4 Conduct investigations of complex problems:Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including predication and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6 The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO7 Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO8 Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
PO9 Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO10 Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO11 Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one's own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
PO12 Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological changes.
